Silent Saboteurs Part 1
Who's in charge of your life?“The east wind became so strong that he could feel it on his face. (…) He envied the freedom of the wind and realized that he, too, could obtain freedom for himself. Nothing is stopping him, only himself.”
The Story of the marvelous diamond
Did you know that when you were born, you were like a bright, sparkling diamond? You were aware that you were capable of anything, free, talented, and lovable.
But as you grew up, the brutal storms of life blew more and more sediment on this shining diamond until it was completely covered.
Imagine a river that has washed to its banks a lot of silt. It may sound weird but go with it. 🙂 You have an intuition that something valuable and shiny is under the dirt. You feel you’re drawn to it and want to get it! So you get enthusiastic and throw yourself into work with excitement. But when you start digging and carrying away the twigs and mud, the wind blows sand into your eyes. It hurts, burns, and you quickly forget what you’re looking for; you leave the pile as it is.
In the same way, our full potential, this inner intelligence in you and me, our infinite creativity and capacity for unconditional love, has been wholly obscured over the years, hidden under the sediment of life.
During socialization, we learn how to behave to be accepted in the community and society and conform to our environment. But unfortunately, we often hide our true feelings because we think our friends, family, and colleagues would not understand us and would despise us because of them. So we follow safe behavior and try to please them or hide in the background.
Meanwhile, this infinite potential that wants to be fulfilled and wants us to be our authentic selves is always there within us. After a while, we don’t even remember it anymore, and we don’t even notice it.

Autopilot mode – who is in control?
A stem cell biologist and bestselling author of The Biology of Belief, Bruce Lipton, the father of epigenetics, recently visited Hungary. In his fantastic presentation, he talked about, among other things, that 95% of our behavior as adults, our response to stimuli from the outside world, comes from our subconscious. And only 5% is controlled by our thoughts, our conscious brain.
Have you ever noticed your thoughts wondered while driving? Your mind was on your daily tasks, but you stayed on the road and suddenly realized that you had almost arrived at your workplace. Of course, this is a dangerous example, but you may have already experienced something similar. At that time, your conscious mind was busy; your mind was on your tasks. Meanwhile, your subconscious programs, your “autopilot,” took over and kept you on the road. You didn’t even realize you were giving your autopilot control! This is always the case when your conscious mind is busy. Your subconscious mind takes over your life!
During his presentation, Bruce Lipton explained how our brain waves change during development. He emphasized the responsibility of parents in the example they set for their children. Delta brain waves control children until they are 2 years old and then by Theta brain waves until they are 7. It briefly and concisely means that our subconscious mind is being programmed during this time. We learn quickly and absorb everything we see, perceive, and feel, so we often confuse reality with imagination in childhood. Even our creativity is limitless during these years! Besides this time being magical, it’s also dangerous! After all, at this age, the conscious mind functions even more limitedly; the ability to make logical judgments has yet to be activated.
Because of this, the child unfortunately often draws the wrong conclusion in a given situation, which already plants a sabotaging, harmful program in the subconscious.
For example, did you like to sing a lot as a child, but a “well-intentioned” adult told you that she had a headache from your humming, so you should stop now? You immediately stored in yourself that “you don’t have a good voice,” “you’ll never be a singer,” while maybe she was just having a bad day, so she told you to stop. Perhaps you did have a talent for singing; you just had to develop this ability to improve. But you will never think of developing your creativity in this direction again.
Or when your mom took you to the doctor to get your shots. You were scared. You screamed. But your mom angrily told you to stop being hysterical because a boy never cries! After all, everyone will laugh at you if you enter the doctor’s office crying! So you pulled yourself together, pushed your fear deep inside you, and unfortunately learned from the incident that “A boy never cries.” “If you cry, people will laugh at you.”, “Showing our pain, fear, and all in all our feelings makes us laughed at.” I could mention many similar examples.
These experiences in our childhood all fed harmful programs and patterns into our subconscious, which then influenced our behavior day after day.
You can see that most of the programs stored in your subconscious don’t even come from you! You only learned them during your socialization. Phobias also developed similarly, but we will discuss this in another article.
So practically 95% of the day, you live your life according to the programs you received from others! These programs are the dregs of your life. These are the silent saboteurs that are invisibly inside you and, unfortunately, do everything to prevent you from developing your true self and reaching your goals! I will write about this in more detail in Part 2 of Silent Saboteurs, in which New Year’s resolutions play a significant role.
The silent saboteurs will limit you until you bring them to light and confront them. And if you do that, they stand aside. Then, like dried silt, which turns to dust due to heavy wind, it is easily blown away. Then the treasure hidden in the depths will be visible again, this glittering and splendid diamond that is your true essence, your true self.

With the help of The Journey method, you, too can find your silent saboteurs and overcome your limitations.
Are you ready for the journey to your true self?
